A. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Continuous sterilization is a sterilization method in which the medium is continuously heated outside the fermenter to maintain heat preservation and cooling through a special disinfection device, and then enters the fermenter. The main advantages of this method are saving a lot of steam and condensate water; High temperature, rapid sterilization, short heating time of materials, less destruction of nutrients; The sterilization time is short, the fermenter utilization rate is high; steam load equilibrium, high boiler utilization rate; It is suitable to use automatic control to reduce labor strength.

C. CONTINUOUS STERILIZATION SYSTEM
Medium continuous sterilization system is composed of seven key equipment：batching tank, feed pump, preheating tank, continuous sterilization pump, heater, maintenance tube , cooler. The process of continuous sterilization is: batching - preheating - heating - heat preservation - cooling. After the preheated medium is transported to the heater through the continuous sterilization pump, the medium is mixed with high temperature steam and quickly reaches the sterilization temperature, the purpose of which is to make the medium heat up rapidly in a short time. There are two kinds of heater: tower heater and jet heater.After the heated medium reaches the maintenance tube, the sterilization effect achieved after a period of insulation residence time ( this perid of time is actually sterilization time).
The sterilized medium must through a rapid cooling stage to reduce the destruction of the nutrient content of the medium, meanwhile it close to the temperature conditions used for actual fermentation. At present, spray cooler and plate cooler are widely use in China.
